At St Augustine’s we are very lucky to have a Year 6 buddy to help us settle quickly into school life and the many routines at the start of the year. Our Year 6 students enjoy the responsibility and pride that comes with helping our newest and youngest students, while our Kinder students love seeing a familiar smiling face in the playground! Our Kinder / Buddy program for 2018 began with a lunch together under the big pine tree.
Our school was a bright and beautiful canvas on the night of June 28, glowing with the artwork of our students. From colourful lanterns to a glittering fairy tree and truly inspired light & sound performances from our percussion ensemble, bands and choirs we trust that you did not ‘believe your eyes’. Thank you to so many staff, students and their families for taking part in the ANZAC DAY march in Coffs Harbour. Lest we forget.
New classes… New teachers… New friends…
Welcome to 2017 at St Augustine’s!
Our students were greeted this morning by Mr Watts at a short assembly before moving to their new cohort spaces for 2017. Mr Watts had a message for everyone… ‘Be kind to one another and work hard’. Our staff and students are very excited about the year ahead.
Congratulations to everyone involved in our musical ‘ALICE’. To our talented students – well done! To our incredible and dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly over the past months – thank you! And to the many parents, friends and family members who contributed in so many ways – a massive thank you for the support and help you gave.
Mr Watts was very pleased to open the next section of our playground development – the Rock Wall. Many thanks to Gordon King and his team from Gordon King Constructions for their wonderful work on the sandstone wall and footpath extension which received a big thumbs up from our students!
St Augustine’s students marched on ANZAC Day with many in Coffs Harbour to commemorate the service and sacrifice of our soldiers past and present. Lest we forget.
Last Friday we celebrated the induction of our 2016 student council. Fr. Paul led a liturgy for our school community and the students received a blessing and their badges. Congratulations!
Wow! Our playground is ready to go…! This play equipment is the first stage in our proposed playground development and was totally funded by the efforts our wonderful P&F Association – we thank you for your continued support!
Our Walk-a-thon on Friday 29 May was a fabulous day. Firstly a big ‘thank you’ to all the families who have supported this event in the form of sponsorship; all funds raised will go towards supporting the Guy family who are looking after Eve in Sydney. Eve is currently undergoing chemotherapy and will have an operation to remove the tumour on her leg in the near future. There will be a long recovery after the operation that will require frequent trips to Sydney but we hope to have her back as soon as possible. Don’t forget there is a raffle happening as well and local businesses have been very generous in donating wonderful prizes. It’s great to see the children really getting behind this fundraiser, showing faith in action. Please give generously.
